Beth Myers, Guard Designer/Guard Caption Head - Beth is returning for the second year as the guard caption head and guard designer for the Kilties. Beth began marching guard at the age of nine and has over three decades of marching arts experience as a member and instructor. Her marching experience includes the Guardsmen Drum and Bugle Corps, National Champion James B. Conant High School Band and the Kilties. She has over a decade of instructional experience in winter guard and field performance color guard arenas including, most recently, Fond du Lac Winter Guard, West Bend High School Color Guard and the Kilties. She also has served as clinician and currently serves on the board of the Midwest Color Guard Circuit. As a brass musician, Beth incorporates musicality into her work, often writing guard work equally from the musical score and recordings.


Cheryl Johnson, Guard Instructor - A past individual and ensemble gold medalist and featured soloist, Cheryl's marching and instructional experience includes drum corps in the Guardsmen organization and the Illinois State Drill Team Association State Champion Skyhawks Color Guard. Most recently, Cheryl has instructed the De La Salle Catholic High School color guard from Chicago, IL. A familiar face around the Kilties organization, Cheryl has is a past marching member in both the guard and hornline and also served one term on the Kilties Board of Directors.

 

Mik Erwin, Guard Consultant/Weapon Tech - Mik Erwin competed with the Milwaukee Lake Band from 1974-1981, winning five national championships during that time. He then taught the band and guard for three seasons and helped the band win the Grand National Champion title at the Traverse City Cherry Festival. Mik's adjudication experience includes the color guard caption in the Central States judging organization. Mik is also a founding member and Director of the Righteously Outrageous Twirling Corp ("ROTC) of Chicago.

 

Allison Sanders, Movement/dance consultant - Allison brings her dance and movement experience to the Kilties in 2014. Her dance background includes training in jazz, tap and hip-hop with performance experience that includes a nationally ranked WI dance team. She combines this experience with her knowledge and experience in the guard/winter guard activity to offer a focused perspective to the members in order to maximize the interpretation of the musical book.
